Phibro Brazil visits Desert King facilities to strengthen collaboration on natural feed solutions

A delegation from Phibro Animal Health and its Brazilian clients conducted a technical site visit to Desert King’s operations in Placilla and Casablanca on May 5–6, 2026. The primary goal of the visit was to observe the manufacturing process of Magni-Phi, a nutritional complex derived from quillaja (quillaja saponaria) — a tree endemic to Chile — and Mexican Yucca (yucca schidigera).

The visit formed part of the ongoing collaboration between Desert King and Phibro to bring customers closer to the origin, production, quality controls, and scientific development behind Magni-Phi. By opening its facilities to customers and technical teams, Desert King seeks to strengthen transparency, facilitate the exchange of market knowledge, and better understand the needs of animal producers.

Leandro Padilla, R&D Manager at Desert King, emphasized the strategic importance of the meeting for the regional market: “Brazil is a powerhouse in the global animal production industry. We want end-users to understand the source of Magni-Phi, gain a deeper insight into its properties, and establish a direct connection with our process.”

The visit also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges faced by the Brazilian animal production sector and the role that standardized natural ingredients can play within modern nutrition programs.

Developed over 15 years, this standardized complex is backed by extensive scientific research across multiple species, including poultry, swine, shrimp, and fish. Hernán Cortés, R&D Assistant Manager at Desert King, explained that the product combines saponins and phenols from both botanical sources for direct use in animal feed.

“Natural products offer a viable alternative to the chemical growth promoters currently in use,” Cortés noted. He highlighted the global trend of removing antibiotics from the market due to antimicrobial resistance, which he described as a “critical public health crisis.” In this context, Magni-Phi serves as a natural alternative to support animal growth through optimized nutrition and health.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AND TECHNICAL CONFIDENCE

The collaboration between the two companies encompasses technical support, quality control, and product characterization. William Serna, Senior Director of Nutritional Specialties for Phibro Global, identified Desert King as a tier-one global partner, with joint operations spanning the U.S., Latin America, Asia, and Europe.

“The main goal of this visit is to showcase the strength of our alliance. It’s no secret to our clients who is behind this product, and that transparency builds trust,” Serna stated. He added that demonstrating a commitment to sustainability—from the responsible sourcing and traceability of natural raw materials to the final process—provides a level of security that complements the technical studies validating the product’s performance.
