As world leaders in the production of quillaja extracts, our purpose goes far beyond extraction; it is about adding value and science to our surroundings. In the latest video released by SOFOFA as part of the Regional Pride campaign, the General Manager of Desert King Chile puts it clearly: “We transform this native resource into high-value strategic inputs for a wide range of industries.”
Today, our quillaja extracts are essential, strategic components worldwide in fields as diverse and critical as the global pharmaceutical industry, mining, human food and animal health.
Operating the entire value chain locally
One of our greatest strengths is our local roots and full control of our processes from the Valparaíso Region, Chile. We responsibly manage native forests and have our own quillaja plantations.
To do this to world-class quality standards, we have developed our own production process across four highly automated plants, strategically located in different parts of the region: Quilpué, Concón, Casablanca and Curauma.
People: the true engine of innovation
While technology and nature are fundamental pillars, the heart of Desert King is its people. As Macarena Fernández, People and Administration Manager at Desert King Chile, puts it, “the true engine of this innovation is our people.”
Today, we lead the research, development and production of quillaja saponins thanks to a team of more than 250 people who dedicate their lives to this industry. Our team ranges from highly skilled operators to world-class scientists. This diversity and excellence confirm something we are deeply proud of: the talent of our region has the technical capability to push boundaries and compete globally.
